A few months ago, Michelina and her partner Brandon volunteered to plant some trees with Tree People.  One of our students is a Community Organizer for Tree People and now together we have created this event.  Join us for some yoga amongst the outdoors as we will also take care of our environment during the Tree Care Summer season to water and care for the trees recently planted.

We will join TreePeople in partnership with ReWild and the US Forest Service in caring for oak trees in recent fire scars in Castaic. We will be in the Sierra Pelona Mountains in the northeastern portion of the Angeles National Forest. Enjoy beautiful views and wide-open space while practicing a morning of stewardship and yoga. A free and fun event for the whole family!

What to Bring/Wear:

  • water
  • hat/sunscreen/sunglasses
  • recommended: bug spray
  • refillable water bottle (we have a refill station)
  • optional: snacks (we have a limited selection)
  • required: please wear long pants that you can easily move in (think gym pants)
  • required: closed toed shoes

PLEASE NOTE:

  • There are no restrooms, please plan accordingly
  • Children are welcome as long as they can navigate steep terrain and use tools
  • Anyone is welcome, but registration is required for each individual, if you plan to bring children please let us know how many
  • We suggest loading the map/directions in advance as service can be spotty in the area
  • Please do not bring a yoga mat as we don’t want to damage the newly planted saplings and native wildflowers, we will be doing standing and modified variations of traditional yoga poses for all levels

Tree People: TreePeople inspires and supports the people of Southern California to come together to plant and care for trees, harvest the rain, and renew depleted landscapes.

Born from the efforts of a teenager over 50 years ago, Tree People have involved more than 3 million people in planting and caring for more than 3 million trees.

They unite with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure city at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains. We work with volunteer leaders using our unique Citizen Forester model, and we influence government agencies for a healthy, thriving Southern California.

Michelina is so happy to combine health and honor for the environment and for the collective with this event.  She loves to combine nature and yoga in as many ways as possible – as she feels there is a pure connection between the two.  She is blessed to connect with Tree People via a yoga student who is a community organizer for this environmental advocacy organization.
