Ada
Yoga teacher
Ada is blissfully married to her husband of 3 years. Together they have 3 children who are all grown-up and have moved out, so they have replaced them with a dog and a cat who listens to them better than their children ever did. She and her husband love the beach and hopes to someday move back near the ocean.
Yoga Journey
With the encouragement of her daughter who was convinced that this would help her mom get through the current struggles in her life, Ada found herself reluctantly walking inside a hot yoga studio and thinking she’s about to make the biggest mistake of her life. She had never tried yoga, let alone a “hot” one. The next 75 minutes of that class took her through a journey that she would never forget to this day. She walked out with tears in her eyes from that very first experience and feeling an overwhelming closeness to God. It was a moment that helped her find release, acceptance, humility, peace and surrender. It was a moment of immense gratitude.
Background & Experience
After 3 years of dedicated practice, Ada had the opportunity to take the 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training at Hot Yoga Haven. Over the years, she continued her yoga journey taking online and in-person workshops from her favorite yoga guru, Kino MacGregor (Ashtanga Yoga) and her favorite teachers in the local community. She currently teaches yoga at Serenity Hot Yoga Studio, Gold’s Gym Valencia, and now My Yoga Canyon Country. She has also had the opportunity to teach yoga at work during lunch sessions.
Yoga Classes with Ada
No two students are the same so expect to have her full attention as if you were the only one in her class. But most of all, expect to leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and peaceful.
Fun Facts
- If Ada were to give her yoga practice one word, what would it be?
Present. In yoga this means being conscious in the moment, being conscious in the here and now, being focused and mindful while the distractions of life fade away. The other word for “present” is “gift” and this is where she brings her focus. Without dwelling in the past or future, life is a precious gift given to us at every moment. - What is Ada’s favorite yoga pose and why?
Ada loves Vasisthasana / Side Plank pose. This was the very first arm balance pose where her focus and breath were truly challenged. Feeling her muscles shake and the strain on her wrist as she rooted one hand to the floor and only the bottom edge of one foot, she embraced her weakness and strength both at the same time. The Sanskrit word “Vasistha” means “most excellent”. Regardless of what side plank version you take (or any version of any pose, for that matter), root yourself in excellence, meaning, the best of you. - What is Ada’s Super Power?
Finding Joy and Peace in God. - What song can Ada hear on repeat?
Three songs and all part of her Wedding Ceremony: 1) Nobody Loves Me Like You by Chris Tomlin; 2) Overwhelmed by Big Daddy Weave, and 3) This is Amazing Grace by Phil Wickham - What is Ada’s favorite snack?
Anything and everything 🙂 - When Ada is not teaching yoga, where can you find her?
Ada and her husband are currently immersed in their bible studies. But when they don’t have their heads down reading the Word, you can find them at the beach with their dog, Hunter.
