Sara
Yoga teacher
Sara was born and raised along the beautiful coastal shores of North Carolina and Virginia Beach, where the rhythm of the ocean became her first teacher. Spending her days surfing, exploring nature, and connecting deeply with animals, she developed a profound appreciation for the natural world and the interconnectedness of all living beings. These early experiences nurtured a sense of wonder, presence, and reverence that would eventually guide her life’s path.
Inspired by the teachings of the ocean, the rhythms of the natural world, and her own path of awakening, Sara cultivates an inner sanctuary rooted in harmony and purpose. This way of being is celebrated through a conscious vegan lifestyle, a profound connection to nature, surfing, teaching scuba diving, and offering yoga as a pathway to healing, presence, and self-discovery.
Yoga Journey
Yoga entered Sara’s life as a path of healing, self-discovery, and deep connection, and it remains a sacred practice that continues to guide and inspire her each day. As a RYT 200 yoga teacher, she is devoted to creating a nurturing and welcoming space where students can slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with the wisdom, strength, and wholeness that already reside within. Through mindful movement, breath, and presence, Sara encourages others to cultivate a deeper relationship with themselves and embrace life with greater balance, authenticity, and grace.
Background & Experience
Sara’s yoga journey began in the most unexpected of places—through Goth Yoga, where she first discovered the transformative power of movement, breath, music, and community. From there, she was called to expand and integrate Yoga as a daily practice. She continued to explore the many lineages of yoga, finding that Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Hatha, Bhakti, Sound Healing, and hybrid offerings that creatively blend multiple modalities really landed with her.
Sara completed her 200 RYT Yoga Teacher Training at My Yoga Canyon Country and continued her education through a personalized one-on-one mentorship with Michelina Payetta, deepening her understanding of sequencing, philosophy, energetic awareness, and the art of holding space for others. She remains committed to lifelong learning and regularly participates in workshops, and continuing education opportunities, including Doterra Aromatherapy, Cacao Ceremonies, Sound Bath facilitation, and other holistic wellness experiences such as earning her Reiki Practitioner certifications.
You can find Sara leading her signature Generous Gentle Flow at My Canyon Country on Saturday mornings guiding her students through what she lovingly calls a balance of “heat and sweet”—creating space for both challenge and restoration, strength and surrender. You can also find Sara enthusiastically subbing a variety of classes at My Yoga Canyon Country.
Additionally, Sara works with students of all ages and abilities, including senior citizens in assisted living houses, where she thoughtfully incorporates props, modifications, and individualized support to ensure each student can move safely, confidently, and comfortably through their practice.
To further expand her knowledge and training, Sara will be attending the 36-hour Yin training in July 2026.
