What is Meditation? 

Meditation is finding mindfulness, stillness, joy, and peace.  It offers an ability to look inward and connect to your divine, enlightenment, and universe.

Numerous studies have shown that meditation is an effective stress-management tool, ultimately reprogramming the brain to the extent that meditators end up with more capacity to manage stress.  Not only is meditation a path to self awareness and compassion, but it is also a guide to better health.

In this workshop Jami and Michelina will share history of meditation, meditation basics, techniques, different types of meditation, and setting up your own meditation practice.  They will also facilitate you through multiple forms of meditation, as you can then connect to what best practices serve you.  You will receive tools and ways of developing routines and rituals to more easily tap into your meditation practice and path.

Each student will receive a take home handout to support moving forward with meditation practice.

1 Session

Learn meditation basics, history, techniques, different types of meditation, and setting up your own meditation practice.  They will also facilitate you through multiple forms of meditation, as you can then connect to what best practices serve you.  You will receive tools and ways of developing routines and rituals to more easily tap into your meditation practice and path.

Jami is a yogi family member of My Yoga Canyon Country as also she has her certificate in Meditation from Ananda Village, (The Center for Expanding Light). She also completed the year-long training from the IPP (Intensive Practice Program) in Mindfulness from UCLA.  She acquired her 200 hour yoga teacher training and meditation practice from the Ayurveda & Yoga Center.   In a deeper connection to meditation and mindfulness, she completed group facilitator training from Blue Mindfulness in Ojai.

She has practiced numerous classes at Ananda, combining yoga, the chakras, the Bhagavad Gita with her meditation practice. Along with an amazing, life-changing  pilgrimage to Rishikesh, India (the birthplace of yoga).  She has made her way to meditation practices at Buddhist temples, silent retreats, and spaces in Australia, Canada, Germany and Malta.

Jami loves nature, community, animals and groups that facilitate growth!  Meditation is a sweet & powerful piece to her heart and practice – she can’t wait to share this beautiful tool and piece of yoga with you!

Michelina is honored to facilitate alongside Jami.  As she came from a background of intensity – these more subtle practices of yoga were a challenge.  It was not easy – and sometimes still is not simple to be still, quiet, and drop into a meditative practice.  Like many, her mind also tends to wander.  However, she has grace with self and recognizes it as practice.  She has also learned that meditation can come in many forms – it is not just sitting upright, still, with eyes closed.

As yoga has allowed Michelina to soften as a whole, she has found more softness and healing in settling into meditative states, places, and experiences.  She has also acknowledged the power to go within and listen, which incorporates clearing out the mind chatter.  Meditation and mindfulness of it, has been a beautiful tool for a deeper connection.  She can’t wait to share components to help you tap into meditations with more knowledge and ease.
